CONTINENTAL MIDTOWN

by Messy and Picky

continental midtown

Very much like the original Continental with plenty of trendy people smoking cigarettes and drinking fancy drinks. The décor is less diner-like and more over-the-top [staying with Stephen Starr's style] complete with wicker swingy chairs hanging from the ceiling on the second floor seating area.

You may not want to sit in them if you are sensitive to a little motion during your meal. And the servers dress in friendly stripes instead of Sprocket-like black. The menu differs slightly, but everything is still tapas-style. We had the same tasty mountain of shoestring fries topped with Chinese mustard sauce, Picky went a little overboard with the mustard. Picky ordered up some spring rolls which turned out to be less than spring-y. But Messy thoroughly enjoyed her tofu dumplings.

The desserts were bite-sized and inexpensive. We both highly reccommend the desserts even if you're on a diet – we're not. There's no way you can make the excuse that you don't have room for them.

Messy ****
Picky **1/2

The final word: Still trendy and yummy, and closer to our abodes.
