My roommate and I go to the Tampopo on 21st St (there are two) several times a week. Their sushi is great, but there is a MUST have on the menu - spicy rice bowls. You can get them with beef, chicken, tofu, or my personal favorite, the spicy squid rice bowl. They're under $6, and fill you up. I've spent over $100 in a workweek there on takeout for two before, and it's worth every penny.

The service is excellent, as well. They're all really friendly, and pleased to accomodate you.

I agree-- the best, cheap Japanese and Korean food around. Great for lunch-- portions are just right. I am actually a fan of their eel roll, though.
