I'm glad to see reviews for Korean options in Center City and look forward to checking out Miran with my students. Jong Ka Jib is in the Northeast (Elkins Park) area. I think it's on 5th or 6th just a block off of Cheltenham. I have been there about 25 times with students from Korea, Taiwan and even some yankees and it has always been good. The "H" market is not far away on Cheltenham and makes the trip even better with all the asian variety and great prices on vegetables, seafood etc...
Thanks, Joe

Thanks for the review--I just moved into the area and was curious whether the restaurant was any good, since it was so close by me. I ordered the kalbi and it was great.

Just a followup: the waitress said explicitly that it was a BYOB.

Aaah, I've been wanting to go there since they opened since I looove a good Korean BBQ (even though I am still upset that Midori Market disappeared)

After reading this I think I will try and drag some friends this week :-) (might be hard, they hate spicy...but hey more kimchee for me!)

I was waiting for a good Korean restaurant review. I had a friend from Korea who spent a couple years in this area, and in that time I was dragged to a really good place up in the northeast. I was the only person there who wasn't actually ordering in Korean (actually had to order through my friend, as I couldn't really read the menu).

I wish I knew the name of the place -- I'm not even sure which street it was on, but the food was really good, not that I have any frame of reference.
