for a really amazing croque monsieur check out Lutecia's on 23rd and Lombard! and their tomato bisque is also bangin.

I was starving after a delayed doctor appointment one weekday afternoon and asked a guy on the street where to get a decent sandwich. He mentioned the Caribou Cafe and I was immediately relieved when I walked in Caribou's door that the atmosphere at least liverd up to my high CA standards. However, my Croque Monsier was NOT on brioche – perhaps they were out that day? It was on white wonder bread! The service as well as the rest of the meal (salad and fries, and my request to hurry) were superb, but that Croque Monsier was disappointing enough that I will never return to the lovely ambiance of Caribou.

I know it's not vegetarian, but I LOVE the eggs benedict at Caribou. Damn, I'm hungry now.
