Two longtime friends of ours were very, very, very kind in giving us a [early] wedding gift. It's something Picky has wanted for a little while now – a Lodge Logic Pro Grid/Iron Griddle. We quickly put it to use a couple days after lugging it home when a hungry friend came over. Picky cooked up a pair of double egg and cheese sandwiches on the flat side (we used the grill side for asparagus a couple days later).
Anybody out there have one of these as well? Any favorite things to make on it? Picky is not a fan of pancakes so he won't be making any of those. The griddle sits very low on our rage so it's hard to see just how high the flame is underneath. It's gonna take a little bit of getting used to, but given our experience with cast iron cookware, we should get the hang of this beast fairly easily. This is going to be a great alternative to firing up an outdoor grill and this one's all season!
A griddle like that is a great way to cook a whole rasher of bacon relatively flatly. Lay out the slices in a single layer and bake them in a 325F oven for about 20 minutes (but peek frequently to check how it's doing – cooking time varies a lot by the fat distribution and slice thickness)
And you can make cheesesteaks.
Major envy. I love my Lodge Logic skillet — I bet I use it every day. I've never seen a cast iron pan like this. I'd use it to roast veggies, sweet potato fries, etc. I look forward to seeing what else you cook on it. Did those eggs slide right off, or did they stick?
while this skillet, like all Lodge items, is pre-seasoned, it's not really broken in just yet. and it's hard to tell how high the flame is since it sits so low. so the eggs stuck a tad bit. we'll get used to it though and we'll get better at it for sure.
I used to have one of these… but lost it in a break-up. Seeing this post makes me want to go out and get a new one.
I used mine mainly for french toast and fish. If my veg. girlfriend was out, I'd throw on a steak or burger.
Yay how exciting! I totally want a griddle – that one looks like a keeper!
How about those asian "pancakes" with green onions/scallions, egg, etc? I love those.

Enjoy your griddle!
we've never made those pancakes before, but Picky's eaten many times his body weight of those in his lifetime. good idea!
